PALMS PHYSIOTHERAPY & ALLIED HEALTH
Malaga Clinic & Mobile Physiotherapist in Perth for Children & Adults
At Palms Physiotherapy & Allied Health, we provide NDIS physiotherapy services in Perth for children, adolescents and adults living with disability. We offer appointments in our Malaga clinic, Noranda clinic, and, where suitable, through mobile physiotherapy visits.
Our physiotherapy services are focused on helping NDIS participants work toward goals related to mobility, transfers, strength, balance, endurance, pain-aware movement, equipment use, physical function, and participation in daily life. We take an individualised approach and work with each person’s presentation, goals, environment and support network.
Where appropriate, we can also coordinate care with our wider allied health team, including Occupational Therapy, Exercise Physiology and Speech Pathology so participants and families can access more integrated support in one place.
Physiotherapy may be relevant for NDIS participants where the support relates to the ongoing functional impact of disability and aligns with the participant’s goals and needs.
The NDIS states that physiotherapy may be funded when it is required due to the ongoing impact of disability and meets NDIS funding criteria. It also distinguishes disability-related therapy from treatment that is primarily the responsibility of the general health system, such as post-surgical recovery.
At Palms, our NDIS physiotherapy services may support:
walking, mobility and transfers
balance and falls risk reduction strategies
strength, endurance and physical capacity
gross motor development
postural support and movement planning
participation in home, school, work or community activities
assistive technology - equipment, mobility aid and seating-related support where clinically appropriate
carer education and practical handling strategies where relevant
Support is tailored to the individual and may vary depending on age, diagnosis, goals, home environment, functional presentation and plan circumstances.
We offer clinic-based NDIS physiotherapy as well as mobile physiotherapy home visits, depending on the participant’s needs and the suitability of the service.
Our clinics can be a good option for participants who benefit from:
access to a dedicated therapy environment - kids therapy gym, sensory room, rehabilitation gym
use of equipment and therapy spaces
structured rehabilitation sessions
opportunities to work on mobility, strength and movement goals in a clinical setting
Mobile physiotherapy may suit participants who:
find travel difficult
need support in their own home environment
benefit from therapy in the setting where they complete daily activities
require assessment of transfers, mobility, home access or function in real-life contexts
This allows us to tailor therapy to how the participant actually lives, moves and functions day to day.
Our physiotherapists may assist NDIS participants with:
Support for walking, sit-to-stand transitions, bed mobility, transfers, and moving more safely and efficiently in different environments.
Individualised exercise and movement programs aimed at supporting strength, endurance, physical confidence and participation.
Assessment and therapy targeting balance, coordination and movement safety, particularly where falls risk or reduced confidence is affecting day-to-day life.
For children and some adults, physiotherapy may assist with gross motor development, movement patterns, coordination and physical participation.
Physiotherapists may also contribute to assessment and recommendations relating to mobility aids, physical function, and other supports where this sits within physiotherapy scope and clinical need.
Our NDIS physiotherapy services may be suitable for children and adults with a wide range of disability-related functional needs. This may include participants who need support with:
musculoskeletal issues impacting disability-related function
mobility limitations
postural and gross motor concerns
complex physical needs
The type of therapy provided always depends on the participant’s individual goals, needs and clinical presentation.
At Palms, our focus is on function and participation. That means we look at what is making daily life harder and what practical support may help.
Depending on the participant, physiotherapy may focus on goals such as:
moving more safely at home
improving confidence with walking
building strength for daily activities
improving transfer ability
supporting participation at school or in the community
helping carers support safe movement
improving comfort, access or physical function
We take care to keep therapy practical, measurable and relevant to real life.
NDIS funding decisions are made by the NDIA and depend on the participant’s plan, management type, goals, evidence and funding criteria. The NDIS funds supports that relate to disability and meet the “reasonable and necessary” criteria. Supports recommended by a therapist are not automatically funded, and final decisions sit with the NDIA.
If a participant is self-managed or plan-managed, they may be able to use an unregistered provider. If they are NDIA-managed, they generally need to use registered providers. We are able to see plan or self managed NDIS participants.
Palms Physiotherapy & Allied Health offers clinic-based and mobile NDIS physiotherapy services for children and adults across Perth. We also provide occupational therapy, exercise physiology and speech pathology for participants who may benefit from broader allied health support.
