PALMS PHYSIOTHERAPY & ALLIED HEALTH
At Palms Physiotherapy & Allied Health, our Functional Rehabilitation Gym in Malaga is a purpose-built space for exercise-based therapy, rehabilitation, and strength-focused programs. Unlike a standard fitness centre, our rehab gym is designed to bridge the gap between traditional therapy and full recovery by focusing on movements and exercises that translate directly to real-life tasks—helping you return to everyday life, work, sport and hobbies with greater confidence.
Our gym supports children, teens, adults and older adults across a wide range of abilities, with programs tailored to individual goals and clinical needs.
A functional rehabilitation gym uses evidence-based exercise and rehabilitation equipment to improve the skills your body needs for daily life—such as walking, stairs, lifting, reaching, balance, getting up from the floor, and returning to sport. Programs are clinically guided and adjusted to your presentation, symptoms and capacity.
The rehabilitation gym may be used for:
Injury rehabilitation
Post-operative rehabilitation (e.g., joint replacements, tendon repairs, spinal procedures)
Strength and conditioning support
Balance training and falls prevention
Mobility and functional training
Exercise physiology programs
Long-term condition management (where appropriate)
Disability-related support programs tailored to individual goals
Our functional rehab gym can support individuals with a wide range of presentations, including:
Post-injury recovery to rebuild strength and reduce re-injury risk
Post-surgery rehabilitation after orthopaedic or spinal procedures
Chronic pain management, including persistent pain and deconditioning
Neurological conditions (e.g., stroke, MS, Parkinson’s, ABI/TBI) to support mobility, balance and function
Sports rehabilitation to return to sport stronger and more resilient
Disability support, with tailored programs for physical and intellectual disabilities
Access to gym-based therapy depends on clinical suitability, clinician recommendation, service type and availability.
Programs are overseen by qualified clinicians, including physiotherapists and exercise physiologists, with input from our broader allied health team where appropriate.
Each program is customised to your goals—whether you’re returning to work, building walking tolerance, managing fatigue, improving balance, or rebuilding strength after surgery.
Where appropriate, we integrate gym-based rehabilitation with other services such as hands-on therapy, education, hydrotherapy, and targeted exercise approaches.
Our gym is designed to support people of all abilities in a welcoming, respectful space.
Choose from 1:1 supervised sessions or small-group sessions (where appropriate and safe).
Functional rehabilitation is about more than just “getting better”—it’s about building capacity to live well. Benefits may include:
Improved strength and flexibility
Enhanced mobility, balance and confidence
Pain reduction through targeted movement and graded loading
Injury prevention through better control and stability
Improved tolerance for daily activities, work and sport
Our 400sqm rehabilitation gym in Malaga includes a wide range of equipment to suit different needs and ability levels:
Cardiovascular equipment: treadmills, stationary bikes, rowing machines, ellipticals
Strength and conditioning equipment: free weights, cable machines, weight machines, resistance bands, kettlebells
Functional training tools: TRX, medicine balls, agility and functional trainers
Balance and stability equipment: BOSU balls, wobble boards, balance trainers
Mobility and rehab-focused equipment: stretching mats, foam rollers, parallel bars, steps and targeted rehab tools
All new members start with an initial consultation with a Physiotherapist or Exercise Physiologist to ensure safe and effective use of the gym. We will:
Review your health history, symptoms and goals
Assess function, movement quality and starting capacity
Introduce equipment and safe technique
Create a personalised program (including what to focus on and what to avoid)
You’ll receive a step-by-step plan that progresses as you improve strength, mobility, confidence and tolerance.
We guide technique, adjust load and modify exercises as needed—especially important for pain, fatigue, neurological presentations, and post-surgical recovery.
We reassess regularly and update your program to keep you moving toward your goals.
We offer flexible options so you can choose what suits your schedule and goals:
1 individual session: $12.00
5 passes: $55 ($11.00/session)
10 passes: $100 ($10.00/session)
20 passes: $180 ($9.00/session)
50 passes: $400 ($8.00/session)
