Your treatment plan depends on your diagnosis, goals and current tolerance. We aim to provide a plan you can realistically follow.
We assess:
Injury history and symptom behaviour
Swelling, range of motion and joint mobility
Strength, balance and proprioception (joint position sense)
Walking/running mechanics (when relevant)
Footwear, training loads and contributing factors
Your plan may include:
Load modification and education (what to change now to settle symptoms)
Strength and stability training (calf, foot, ankle, hip control)
Balance and proprioception work (key for preventing recurrence)
Mobility and range-of-motion strategies to address stiffness
Tendon rehab progressions when tendon pain is present
Return-to-sport / return-to-running planning with clear progression steps
Hands-on treatment where appropriate for short-term symptom relief (as part of an active rehab plan)
Ankle injuries often recur if balance/strength is not rebuilt. We focus on:
Re-injury prevention strategies
Landing and change-of-direction control (for sport)
Footwear guidance and graded exposure back to impact activity
Most ankle injuries can be diagnosed clinically. In some cases—especially if a fracture, significant tendon injury, or unusual presentation is suspected—imaging may be recommended.

Seek urgent GP/ED review if you have:
Inability to weight-bear after injury
Significant deformity, severe swelling, or suspected fracture
Numbness, severe pins and needles, or rapidly worsening symptoms
Fever, redness and heat with severe pain (possible infection)
A deep calf pain/swelling after immobilisation (needs medical assessment)
Our Malaga facility is a purpose-built allied health hub with dedicated therapy spaces including a rehabilitation gym, private treatment rooms, Pilates studio, Sensory room & a Paediatric therapy gym.
Our Noranda clinic is a welcoming therapy space with private treatment rooms, a well-equipped studio gym area for rehabilitation/strengthening, and specialised therapeutic equipment for Physiotherapyities.
Recovery varies by severity. Many mild sprains improve over weeks, but persistent swelling, stiffness, or instability often benefits from structured rehabilitation. A physio assessment helps determine what’s limiting recovery and how to progress safely.
Recurrent sprains often relate to reduced strength, balance, proprioception, and/or reduced range of motion after the first injury. Rehab is aimed at rebuilding these systems.
Sometimes—depending on the diagnosis and symptom response. We can guide safe modifications (reducing impact, changing volume/intensity) and provide a progression plan.
No referral is required for private physiotherapy. Some funding pathways (e.g., Medicare, NDIS, Workers Compensation) require specific paperwork.
Find the right support by discipline, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, exercise physiology and other allied health services.
