Do you have an injured worker? We can help!
Do you have a worker who has reported a niggle, strain, or new pain at work? Early assessment and targeted physiotherapy can help clarify what’s going on, support safe work participation, and reduce the risk of a minor issue becoming a bigger problem.

Workplace early intervention is prompt physiotherapy assessment and management when an employee first reports discomfort or injury—before the situation escalates.
This may include:
Early clinical assessment of a musculoskeletal complaint (e.g., back, neck, shoulder, knee)
Functional movement screening relevant to the person’s job demands
Initial management plan (education, exercise-based rehab, load modification)
Practical guidance for safe work participation and graduated return to duties where appropriate
Early intervention is not a substitute for medical care when red flags are present, and it does not replace employer incident reporting or insurance processes where required.
This service is commonly used for:
Employers and managers supporting staff with early symptoms
HR / WHS teams wanting a clear, timely clinical picture
Workers who want early advice and a plan for safe recovery
Organisations seeking consistent workplace injury management pathways
We support children, adults and older adults with disability, injury, chronic conditions, developmental concerns, communication needs, mobility challenges and rehabilitation goals.
Back pain and lifting strains
Neck pain, headaches, and postural pain
Shoulder injuries and rotator cuff-related pain
Elbow/wrist/hand overuse (including repetitive strain)
Hip, knee, ankle and foot injuries
Work-related sprains/strains and flare-ups of existing conditions
Job-demand focused rehabilitation plans
Work capacity guidance (what’s safe now vs what to modify)
Functional movement recommendations relevant to the role
Strength and conditioning for return to physical work tasks
When a worker reports pain, soreness, or injury, we aim to offer prompt appointments (subject to availability) at our Malaga or Noranda clinic.
The treating physiotherapist completes:
Clinical assessment
Functional assessment aligned to job demands
Initial management plan and home exercises (where indicated)
Practical advice on activity modification and pacing
Where the worker provides consent, we can:
Provide an employer update outlining functional considerations (without unnecessary personal medical detail)
Provide return-to-work suggestions (e.g., modified duties, hours, task restrictions) aligned to assessment findings
Provide a clear summary of recommended next steps and review timeframes
If symptoms persist, rehab may include:
Progressive strengthening and conditioning
Manual therapy and symptom relief strategies where clinically appropriate
Education on self-management and prevention
Functional re-training for job tasks
Palms Physiotherapy & Allied Health offers a range of therapy services and specialised supports. You can browse by therapy area, explore specialised services, or learn more about the facilities and equipment we use in-clinic .
If a workers compensation claim is required or already in place, we can continue to support the worker with workers comp physiotherapy, aligned with insurer requirements and return-to-work frameworks.
Claim eligibility, approvals, and funding arrangements are determined by the relevant insurer/employer process. We can provide clinical reporting and functional recommendations as part of rehabilitation where appropriate.
We can provide clinically relevant functional input such as:
Functional capacity considerations related to job tasks (e.g., lifting tolerance, bending, overhead work)
Return-to-work recommendations based on assessment and progress
Guidance for graded reconditioning and safe work participation
If a formal Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) or workplace assessment is required, we can discuss the most appropriate pathway and whether occupational therapy input is indicated.
Occupational Therapy (if needed): Occupational Therapy
Exercise Physiology (for conditioning/fitness rehab): Exercise Physiology
Benefits may include:
Faster clarity on the nature and severity of the issue
Early guidance to support safe work participation
Reduced confusion and delays around management decisions
Consistent communication and documentation (with worker consent)
A proactive approach to staff wellbeing and injury risk management
(Outcomes vary and depend on the condition, job demands, and individual factors.)
We will recommend appropriate escalation when needed, including:
Red flags requiring medical review
Significant functional limitation or inability to safely perform duties
Symptoms not improving as expected
Situations where insurance/claim processes are appropriate
We also recommend employers follow internal procedures, including incident reporting, WHS documentation, and insurer requirements.
