PALMS PHYSIOTHERAPY & ALLIED HEALTH
Telehealth exercise physiology is a convenient way to access individualised exercise support via secure video consults.Â
Palms Physiotherapy & Allied Health offers telehealth appointments for Exercise Physiology (for selected services and appointment types), helping you build strength, fitness and confidence with movement—without needing to attend the clinic.
Telehealth exercise physiology is an appointment delivered by video call where your accredited exercise physiologist can:
assess your current function and exercise tolerance
design a safe, goal-based exercise plan
coach technique and progress exercises over time
support habit-building, pacing and consistency
Telehealth can work especially well for reviews, education, coaching, planning and follow-up sessions.
Telehealth may be suitable for:
follow-up appointments and progress reviews
education and strategy sessions
home program review and progression
goal planning and check-ins
clients who prefer remote appointments where clinically appropriate
It may also improve access when travel, distance, health or scheduling make in-person appointments harder.
Telehealth exercise physiology is often well-suited to exercise planning and coaching for:
graded strengthening for everyday activities (stairs, walking, lifting)
balance and falls-prevention exercises (where appropriate)
general fitness and conditioning programs
building exercise tolerance safely and progressively
pacing strategies for fluctuating symptoms
strength and conditioning programs to support long-term function
safe reconditioning when pain or fear of movement is a barrier
load management strategies and gradual progression
return-to-activity planning (work, sport, hobbies)
If telehealth isn’t the best option for your needs, we’ll recommend the most appropriate pathway.
We support children, adults and older adults with disability, injury, chronic conditions, developmental concerns, communication needs, mobility challenges and rehabilitation goals.
Depending on your goals, sessions may include:
a structured intake and goal setting
movement screening via guided tasks
exercise prescription using bodyweight and household items
technique coaching and modifications in real time
education on pacing, recovery and load progression
progress tracking and program updates
To help your telehealth appointment run smoothly, you may need:
a phone, tablet or computer with camera/audio
a stable internet connection
a quiet space (where possible)
any relevant equipment you already have (optional)
Some situations are better assessed in person, for example:
when hands-on assessment is needed for safety
when equipment-based testing is required
when complex symptoms mean closer monitoring is needed
when technology barriers prevent accurate assessment
Some clients benefit from a combination of telehealth and in-person sessions.
Your funding pathway and eligibility requirements can vary. If you’re using NDIS or another funding option, contact our team and we’ll help confirm whether telehealth is suitable for your appointment type and circumstances.
