PALMS PHYSIOTHERAPY & ALLIED HEALTH
At Palms Physiotherapy & Allied Health, we support families who have been approved for Post Intervention Therapy Services (PITS) funding to access short-term, intensive allied health therapy in the community following recent care through Perth Children’s Hospital / CAHS.
Our goal is to provide practical, goal-based therapy that builds on hospital recommendations and supports function, participation, and confidence at home, school, and in the community.
PITS is a short-term intensive therapy funding program provided through Perth Children’s Hospital/CAHS pathways to support children who require additional community-based therapy after a significant hospital intervention or episode of care.
PITS funding can help families access private allied health sessions to support continuity of care after discharge, where approved by the PITS team.
PITS funding approval, scope and timeframes are determined by the hospital program and your child’s PITS coordinator.
Eligibility is determined by the hospital program. Generally, children may be eligible when they have had recent inpatient or outpatient care through Perth Children’s Hospital/CAHS and require short-term, intensive therapy post-discharge.
Some pathways may require the child to be linked to a specific hospital program and have approval through the relevant coordinator.
We support children, adults and older adults with disability, injury, chronic conditions, developmental concerns, communication needs, mobility challenges and rehabilitation goals.
Therapy depends on your child’s goals, discharge recommendations, and the authorisation provided by the PITS team. At Palms, intensive therapy blocks may include:
Strength, mobility, balance, and gross motor skill development
Task-specific training aligned to home/school goals
Rehabilitation planning and home programs
Functional skills (self-care, school tasks, motor planning)
Upper limb function and participation goals
Sensory regulation strategies when relevant
Communication goals (speech, language, social communication)
Feeding/swallowing support when clinically indicated and within scope
Family and communication-partner strategies
Therapy is individualised. We do not guarantee specific outcomes; we focus on measurable, functional goals and best-practice care.
“Intensive” usually refers to higher frequency therapy over a shorter period (for example, multiple sessions per week for several weeks) where this is clinically appropriate and approved by the funding program.
Intensive blocks often work best when there is:
A clear goal or skill focus
Consistent home practice and caregiver involvement
A plan that is achievable across real-life routines
To help us confirm authorisation quickly, please provide:
Your child’s discharge summary / therapy recommendations (PCH/CAHS)
Your PITS coordinator’s contact details
Any relevant reports (e.g., hospital therapy plan, equipment plans, key goals)
We will then:
Liaise with the PITS team (as needed) to confirm coverage and authorisation
Book sessions aligned to your child’s needs and the approved funding
