PALMS PHYSIOTHERAPY & ALLIED HEALTH
Medicare Exercise Physiology in Perth - Clinic & Mobile Visits
At Palms Physiotherapy & Allied Health, we are committed to providing the best possible care for all our patients. For those who find it difficult to attend our clinics in Malaga, Noranda, or Ellenbrook due to mobility issues or other health concerns, we are proud to offer mobile exercise physiology services for eligible patients under the Medicare Care Plan (GPMP) or Team Care Arrangement (TCA).
If you have a chronic medical condition and are eligible for a GP Management Plan (GPMP) or a Team Care Arrangement (TCA) from your GP, you may be able to access mobile exercise physiology services in the comfort of your own home. Our skilled exercise physiologists will visit you at your home to design and deliver individualized exercise programs that help improve your physical function, strength, and overall well-being.
While we accept Medicare Care Plans and Team Care Arrangements, mobile exercise physiology sessions cannot be bulk billed. This is due to the additional time and resources required for travel, as well as the time spent providing therapy. The travel time to and from your home, combined with the in-home treatment, demands more of our exercise physiologists' time compared to an in-clinic consultation.
To ensure that our therapists are fairly compensated for the time and expertise they provide, we charge an hourly rate of $168 for mobile exercise physiology sessions. Medicare provides a rebate of $60.35 per session, reducing the overall cost of the service.
The fee for a mobile exercise physiology session covers:
The exercise physiologist's time for assessment, exercise prescription, and rehabilitation.
The travel time to and from your home or preferred location.
The Medicare rebate of $60.35, which is applied directly to the session fee, leaving a balance of $107.65 to be paid by you.
If you have a GPMP or TCA and would like to receive mobile exercise physiology services, please contact us to schedule your appointment. We will require confirmation of your eligibility through your GP's referral and details of your Medicare care plan.
We are here to help you stay on track with your physical health, whether it's more convenient for you to visit us at the clinic or for us to come to you at home.
For more information about our mobile exercise physiology services or to confirm your eligibility for a GPMP or TCA, please reach out to us. Our team is dedicated to providing you with the support you need to improve your health and fitness in a way that works for you.
Please note that we are able to bulk bill in-clinic Medicare sessions which are of 20 minutes duration, or you can opt for a longer session and pay the gap fee. Please see this page for more information.
Our team is here to help you decide which option is best for your specific condition. Regardless of your choice, we’re committed to delivering high-quality physiotherapy care that helps you feel your best.
At Palms Physiotherapy & Allied Health, our experienced team is here to help children and adults manage their sensory condition and improve their quality of life.

To get a TCA or GPMP, you need to book an appointment with your GP. During your visit, discuss your chronic condition and how allied health services might support your treatment plan. If your GP agrees, they will create a GP Management Plan (GPMP) and/or a Team Care Arrangement (TCA). They will refer you for up to five allied health sessions per year, depending on your condition and healthcare needs.
With a TCA or GPMP, you may be eligible to access allied health services such as:
Physiotherapy
Occupational therapy
Speech therapy
Exercise physiology
The number of sessions allowed is typically up to five per year, but this may vary depending on your needs and the advice of your GP.
Medicare may cover the cost of your allied health sessions, but this will depend on the clinic’s billing policy. Some clinics bulk bill for these services, while others may charge a gap fee. It is important to confirm the payment structure when booking your appointment.
While your GP will refer you to allied health professionals as part of the plan, you can choose from a range of qualified providers. Be sure to confirm with the clinic whether they are Medicare-registered and accept TCA or GPMP referrals.
If you require more time with your therapist, you can choose to pay a gap fee for longer sessions. Under Medicare, your sessions for TCA or GPMP are usually limited to a shorter duration (e.g., 20 minutes). If you would like additional time to fully address your chronic condition, speak to the clinic staff about arranging an extended session for an additional cost.
You can access up to five sessions per year for each chronic condition that is covered under your TCA or GPMP. However, these sessions are reviewed annually by your GP. If your condition improves or worsens, your GP may adjust the plan accordingly.
If your GP determines that you are not eligible for a TCA or GPMP, you can discuss alternative options for managing your chronic condition. Many clinics offer private appointments or can direct you to other forms of support and care that may be more suitable for your needs.

Some people prefer attending a clinic setting, while others benefit from therapy in their own home or usual environment.
Exercise physiology does not replace medical care. Instead, it may support people whose health condition, disability, recovery needs, or reduced capacity are affecting their physical function and participation.
Depending on the individual, exercise physiology may assist with:
Support with gradual, tailored exercise programs aimed at improving physical capacity, stamina and movement confidence.
Exercise physiology may form part of a broader support plan for people living with long-term health conditions where exercise is clinically appropriate.
Exercise physiology may be relevant for some people recovering from injury, illness, surgery, hospitalisation, cancer treatment, or extended inactivity, where a graded return to movement and function is appropriate.
For some people living with disability, exercise physiology may help support strength, physical participation, confidence with movement and functional capacity, depending on the person’s goals and presentation.
Older adults may benefit from individualised exercise support to maintain strength, mobility, balance confidence, endurance and general physical wellbeing.
Some people need support to begin moving again safely after a long period of inactivity, pain, illness, or reduced confidence. Exercise physiology can help create a realistic starting point and build from there.
We support children, adults and older adults with disability, injury, chronic conditions, developmental concerns, communication needs, mobility challenges and rehabilitation goals.

Clinic-based exercise physiology may be a good option for people who would benefit from:
a dedicated therapy environment
access to exercise equipment and rehabilitation spaces
a structured and supervised setting
gradual progression of exercise with clinician support
Mobile exercise physiology may suit people who:
have difficulty travelling
prefer support at home
want exercise integrated into daily routines
benefit from assessment in their usual environment
This can be particularly helpful where confidence, home setup, transport, mobility, or fatigue are affecting participation.
Some people may be eligible to access exercise physiology under a GP referral pathway, depending on referral requirements and Medicare rules.
Exercise physiology may be available for some NDIS participants where the support relates to disability and aligns with plan goals and funding criteria. Final funding decisions rest with the NDIA.
Some exercise physiology services may be claimable through private health insurance depending on your level of cover and insurer rules.
Eligible DVA clients may be able to access allied health services depending on referral and program requirements.
We also welcome private clients seeking support with exercise, rehabilitation, function, chronic condition support, or healthy ageing.
