Workers Compensation

WHAT IS A WORKERS COMPENSATION CLAIM?

If you have been involved in a work accident or injury and require treatment and rehabilitation to return to pre-injury level of function.

In Western Australia, workers are covered under WorkCoverWA for those injured in a work injury for treatment, care and support, claims management expenses, past and future economic loss and pain and suffering.

HOW DO I CLAIM AND WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ACCOUNTS?

For most patients, we are able to claim directly to your Insurance Company on your behalf for treatment. Once treatment approval has been granted, all fees (as per WorkCoverWA rates) will be directed to your insurer with no out of pocket expense for clients.

If you are still waiting for approval we are happy to help you start your treatment, but you may need to pay upfront and then claim back from your company later.

WHAT TYPE OF TREATMENT WILL I RECEIVE?

The therapist’s at Palms Allied Health will discuss with you the best course of treatment. We are passionate about assisting our insurance patients to get the best outcome and treatment possible. Depending on the injury, we will treat you for some hands on treatment in our offices, but in consultation with the patient, we usually apply for a hydrotherapy and/or exercise rehabilitation (including Clinical Pilates) to fully rehabilitate the injury and assist with return to your normal duties and work.

From acute pain management right through to strength re-training, we will help you through every step while communicating with your insurance company to make the whole experience as smooth as possible. We understand that an insurance claim for an injury can be a stressful time. This is why we do everything we can to take the stress out of the process. Regular contact with the insurance company and case manager ensures that the rehabilitation process is simple, meaning you can concentrate on getting better.

DO I NEED A DOCTORS REFERRAL?

Yes, for your treatment to be covered by WorkCoverWA and your Insurer, your GP needs to refer you to therapy if they deem it appropriate. This referral usually lasts 12 months. Unfortunately, you are unable to self-refer, otherwise private fees will apply.
